The event was attended by members of the Angolan community residing in Kenya, diplomats, Kenyan guests and other nationalities.

Addressing those present Ambassador Sianga Abílio highlighted the historical path of the national liberation struggle led by the brave sons of Angola many of whom paid with their lives for the resistance to the Portuguese colonialist occupation of 500 years.

Ambassador Sianga Abílio stressed that since the end of 2017 Angola has entered a new paradigm under the leadership of President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, focused on the fight against corruption while deep economic reforms and programmes aimed at promoting national production have been implemented.

Regarding the 2022 electoral process Ambassador Sianga Abílio said that the government led by President Lourenço, remained strongly committed to the ongoing process of consolidating democracy and that extending the voting process to Angolans living abroad was a demonstration of that commitment.

To the Angolan citizens residing in Kenya, Ambassador Sianga Abílio assured that they will be promptly informed by the Diplomatic Mission about the procedures relating to the voter registration process abroad which is scheduled to begin in January 2022.
