The Second 2021 Session of the Executive Board of UN-HABITAT (United Nations Population Settlement Programme), began on 15th of November of 2021 in Nairobi, an event convened to discuss and approve UN-HABITAT's Programme of Work and Budget for the year 2022; assess the status of implementation of the Strategic Plan for the period 2020-2023 and progress in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
The Angolan delegation to the Second Session of the Executive Council is headed by the Secretary of State for Territorial Planning Dr. Molares de Abril and includes the Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Nairobi Sianga Abílio in addition to officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Territorial Planning and officials from the Angolan Embassy in Nairobi.
During his meeting with the Executive Director of UN-Habitat Maimunah Mohd Sharif, the Secretary of State for Territorial Planning requested the strengthening of UN-Habitat's technical assistance for Angola's urbanisation and housing policies.
Angola is a member of the Executive Board of UN-Habitat since May 2019, a body composed of 36 countries among which 10 African, 08 from the Asia-Pacific group, 08 from the Western Europe and others group, 06 from the Latin America and Caribbean group and 04 from the Eastern Europe group.
The Bureau of the Executive Board is chaired by Poland which took over from Iran in April of 2021 for a mandate of one year.
