The Ambassador Sianga Abílio presented, on 16th February of 2022, to the President of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit the Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola in the Republic of South Sudan with residence in Nairobi.

In a Ceremony that took place at the Presidential Palace in Juba, President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, considered Angola as a brother country, having reiterated the fact that the Republic of Angola has contributed with material, political and diplomatic support during the liberation war of the South Sudan.

On the bilateral cooperation side President Salva Kiir Mayardit reiterated the invitation to the Angolan government to help South Sudan to conduct and participate in its oil activities.

South Sudan became an independent country in 2011 being the youngest country in the world and where political stability reigns at the moment due to the integration in the government of several political forces giving body to a government of national unity.

South Sudan is a potential country in terms of oil resources hosting the third largest oil reserves in sub-Saharan Africa and possessing iron, copper and other minerals.

The fact that South Sudan is in an embryonic phase of oil production may serve as an incentive for the two countries to establish cooperation agreements in the oil sector, with the mission of organizing the concessionary function of the oil industry of South Sudan taking into account the experience that Angola has accumulated over the years in this sector and consecutively, to promote the participation of Angolan companies in the oil sector of South Sudan.

Engineer Sianga Abílio also performs the functions of Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in the Republic of Kenya, in the Federal Republic of Somalia, in the Republic of Uganda and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Angola at the UN Offices in Nairobi.
