The State Minister for Social Affairs Carolina Cerqueira visited the Angolan Embassy in Nairobi, on 4th March 2022 whereby a meeting was held with the Angolan Community residing in Kenya to listen to their concerns and preside over a clarification session on various current issues in the country with emphasis on the process of registering voters in the diaspora.
The State Minister for the Social Affairs said on the occasion that the Government of the Republic of Angola is committed to creating conditions for all Angolans residing outside the country to participate in the electoral process.
On the social side the State Minister Carolina Cerqueira informed the members of the Angolan Community that the government of the Republic of Angola is strongly committed to promoting the well-being of the citizens through the implementation of programs of great impact such as the construction of new hospitals with modern services and schools to reinforce school inclusion, the construction of social housing for the low-income population and financial assistance support for the most vulnerable under the Kwenda program which has already benefited around two million citizens fifty-nine percent of them being women.
The State Minister for Social Affairs took advantage of the meeting to launch an appeal to the members of the Angolan Community mostly the students, to keep alive the spirit of union and the patriotic sense investing in studies because the country needs them with their training to contribute to its growth.
The meeting with the Angolan Community was preceded by a visit by the State Minister Carolina Cerqueira at the Embassy of Angola in Nairobi whereby she was informed by Mr. Ambassador Sianga Abílio the Embassy's functional responsibilities both bilaterally with the Republic of Kenya and multilaterally particularly working with the United Nations Environment Program - UNEP and United Nations Human Settlement Programme - UN- Habitat.
