The Vice-President of the Republic of Angola, Esperança da Costa, took part, on 5 September 2023 in Nairobi, in the opening session of the presidential segment of the African Climate Summit, chaired by Dr. William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya.
During the session, the Vice-President of the Republic of Angola, Esperança da Costa, spoke at the time dedicated to statements by Heads of State and Government and, during the break, held a working meeting with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan.
In the afternoon session, the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, spoke on the panel on "Investing in the transformation of food systems in Africa", which included, among other entities and experts, the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, and the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The working session on 5 September 2023 was attended by several African Heads of State and Government, the President of the African Union Commission and special guests such as António Guterres, UN Secretary General, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and John Kerry former US Secretary of State and current US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate.
