The Vice-President of the Republic of Angola, Bornito de Sousa, represented the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, at the ninth Summit of the ACP group countries which took place in Kenyan capital, on December 9 and 10, 2019.
Prior to the summit, Nairobi hosted from December 6 to 08, the 110th Session of the ACP Council of Ministers in which Angola was represented by a delegation headed by the Minister of External Relations, Manuel Augusto.
The highlight of the 110th Session of Council of Ministers was the election of Angolan Ambassador Georges Chikoti to serve as ACP Secretary-General, a group of 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.
Ambassador Georges Chikoti is expected to be sworn in on 1 March 2020, in accordance with the ACP Group's rules.
Regarding the ninth Summit, the Heads of State and Government decided that their next meeting, the 10th ACP Summit, will take place in Luanda, the capital of Angola, in 2022.
On the sidelines of the ACP Summit, Vice-President Bornito de Sousa had a busy schedule highlighting the meetings with the President and Vice-President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto, respectively, and the visit to the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola.
