His Excellency Ambassador Sianga Abílio participated in Nairobi on 03 and 04 of February of 2020 on behalf of the Republic of Angola in the 26th meeting of the Technical Support Committee on the Regional Mechanism for Supervision of the Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation in Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Great Lakes Region.

At the request of the chair Angola was invited to comment on the latest developments in the situation in the region, with His Excellency Ambassador Sianga Abílio reiterating the importance of the leadership role of the President, João Lourenço, when joining his brothers at the same table looking for solutions for the Great Lakes Region to find peace and security, especially in DRC.

The Ambassador referred to the Quadripartite Summit chaired by His Excellency President João Lourenço held in Luanda on February 02, 2020, with the participation of His Excellencies, Yoweri Museveni, Paul Kagame and Felix Tshisekedi.

The Support Committee recognized and encouraged Angola's efforts to stabilize peace and security in the region and welcomed the efforts of President João Lourenço in what the Committee considered an "African solution" to the dispute between Uganda and Rwanda.

In addition to the discussions on the various topics related to political and security developments in the region, the Technical Support Committee adopted the draft Agenda for the next Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the countries signatory of the Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Great Lakes Region.

The meeting was co-chaired by the African Union Special Representative for the Great Lakes Ambassador Basile Ikouebe and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region Executive Secretary, Ambassador Zachary Muita, counted with the participation of representatives from Angola, Burundi, Congo, DRC, Kenya Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, African Union, United Nations, Great Lakes Civil Society and Monusco.
