The Angolan Community residing in Kenya proclaimed on September 18, 2021, in Nairobi, the Association of Angolans Residents in Kenya - AARQ.
The Ceremony which is part of the National Hero's Day commemorative program had as its main points the presentation and approval of the Statutes and the election of the President of the Association, Mr. Arnaldo Panzo Joaquim who promised in his inauguration speech, working towards unity among community members and strengthening interaction mechanisms with the Angolan Embassy in Kenya.
His Excellency Ambassador Sianga Abílio who attended the proclamation of the Association, congratulated the elected President and reiterated the embassy's full willingness to work with the Association which now appears as the main interlocutor of the Diplomatic Mission, on behalf of the Angolan community residing in Kenya.
Ambassador Sianga Abílio used the occasion to remember the community members to the need to be prepared to play an active role in the 2022 electoral process as, for the first time in the history of our democracy, Angolans in the diaspora will have the right to vote.
In this perspective His Excellency Ambassador Sianga Abílio assured the Association's members that the Embassy will provide timely information to the Community related to the evolution of the 2022 electoral process.
The Head of the Angolan Diplomatic Mission in Kenya praised the fact that the proclamation of the Association of Angolans Residents of Kenya took place during the commemorative days of the National Hero's Day having for the fact, encouraged the members of the Association, mostly students, to bet on the practice of actions aimed at the general good following the teachings of the late President, Dr. António Agostinho Neto, according to which, “the most important thing is to solve the problems of the people”.
The constitutive process of the Association of Angolans Residents in Kenya began in October 2019 following a challenge launched at the time by His Excellency Ambassador Sianga Abílio during a meeting with the Community.
