The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in the Republic of Kenya and Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations Office in Nairobi Sianga Abílio received on 14 July 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, Ambassador Raychelle Omamo and the Ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Kenya who went to the Chancellery of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Kenya to pay homage to the former President of the Republic of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, who died on 08 July 2022, in the city of Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain, due to illness.
The ceremony was marked by the signing of the Book of Condolence, the Ambassador Sianga Abílio in his capacity as host thanked the presence and solidarity of the Government and people of Kenya and of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in the Republic of Kenya in this moment of great sadness for the passing away of the former President, José Eduardo dos Santos.
The Diplomatic Corps has registered in the Book of Condolence the recognition of the great achievements of the former President, José Eduardo dos Santos, who will be remembered forever as a great statesman, promoter of peace and national reconciliation in Angola, in the Southern Africa region and in the African continent in general, and the expression to the family, the government and the Angolan people, of its deepest feeling of regret.
The Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Nairobi, also receipt of a Condolence Message from the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN-HABITAT, Mrs. Maimunah Mohd Sharif, addressed to the family, government and people of Angola where she emphasizes that during the leadership of the former President, José Eduardo dos Santos, Angola has become an important regional and international partner and great advocate of multilateralism.
