Ambassador Sianga Abílio said, on 10 November 2023, in Nairobi, that the President of the Republic of Angola, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, remains strongly engaged in efforts to find sustainable peace for the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ambassador Sianga Abílio made these statement while chairing the monthly meeting of SADC Group Ambassadors in Nairobi, where he presented the results of the last extraordinary SADC summit, held on 4 November 2023 in Luanda, which focused on the security situation in the DRC.
At this meeting, the SADC Group Ambassadors were also informed of the results of the State Visit that His Excellency João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola, made to the Republic of Kenya and of the inauguration, on 10 November 2023, of the New Luanda Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport.
On the other hand, the SADC Group Ambassadors addressed issues related to upcoming international events within the framework of Multilateral Diplomacy, such as the 3rd Session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee for the establishment of an international legal instrument binding all UN Member States to end plastic pollution in the world, scheduled for 13 to 19 November in Nairobi, the 3rd Session of 2023 of the UN-Habitat Executive Board, scheduled for 28 to 30 November 2023, also in Nairobi, and COP28, scheduled for 30 November to 12 December 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
