The Group of Ambassadors of the SADC Countries held on August 28, 2020, in Nairobi a virtual celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the founding of this regional organization that integrates South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Seychelles, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The President of the SADC Group in Nairobi, the Ambassador of Mozambique Bernardo Lidimba gave a brief history of SADC, since its founding in 1980, an organization whose primary objective was the complete elimination of colonial domination in the region and apartheid regime in South Africa.
According to the Ambassador of Mozambique SADC has grown not only in the number of Member States but also in areas of cooperation at the regional level.
Kenya's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Raychelle Omamo who was the guest of honor at the event applauded SADC's efforts and its aspirations to see Africa's integration dream come true one day.
